I'm 72 years old. I was in middle school in early 1964 when Beatlemania hit America. I've been listening to the Beatles for over 60 years. Every year, they are my most-listened to group on Spotify. I died a little when they broke up in 1970. But the impact of this song and video is deeper than that. For years Apple has been releasing both new Beatles material (e.g., the Anthology collection), remastered original recordings (starting in 2009, and over the past few years with expanded versions of Sgt. Pepper's, the White Album, Get Back/Let It Be, and Dolby Atmos versions of their catalogue). "Meet the Beatles" was the very first album I bought, of anything. I've owned their music on vinyl, then cassette, then CDs, then digital files, and back to reissued vinyl. And while Apple will find other ways to market Beatles toons, this song and video are The End. It's finally over. No new music. Paul McCartney has retired from the concert tour circuit (I made the smart decision to see him in concert, finally, at SAP Center in San Jose in 2019). But this is The End. The Beatles' music will live forever. But it's finally over. That last bow, and fade-out at the end of the video represents the absolute end of the Beatles era. It's been over 60 years, and I've ridden the wave the entire time. What a run. What a blast. But this is a real sense of finality. But what a way to go out. Thank you for your video, and really, for reflecting the same mixed emotions the rest of us felt watching it.

As a veteran of 3 wars and 21 years of service this song definitely brings a tear to my eyes. We can never forget about our collective history we are all impacted by the decisions of our politicians who send us to fight. We served to defend our countries and a soldier does not have a say in where we are sent. Most countries have an all volunteer military and if people didn’t join then we would have mandatory service. That is something that people should remember when they disrespect monuments and our veterans. Thank you to all my fellow veterans who have served in honor and defense of your country!🇺🇸

I've thought a lot about the name "chalk outlines" and haven't come up with a great reason that the central metaphor is with something that signifies death. My best theories are 1. that medications deaden your emotions (reducing the meaning to what amounts to a pun), and 2. that continual use of medications to suppress your identity ("push it back down", "bury myself") represents a de defacto death of self. I have to disclaim that, like Ren and Chinchilla, I'm not disparaging medication as a mental health tool. However, when used as an avoidance mechanism, they can end up perpetually deferring self-actualization (and the healing that might reduce those dependencies).

I started with them in 1972, and I was Earls Court when they played with the crystal ball - so yes Im old but these guys still create emotions within, at the soul, that alters one's feeling for music. Sit back and enjoy a ride to another dimension. BTW - they are #3 ranked with Rolling Stone Mag of all time.

One of my only memories from school : We were assigned to write about a hero who we looked up to, and I wrote mine about The Rev back in 2009, I was 11 at the time. Still is, and will always be one of my favorite musicians. A lot of drummers look up to and honor him even to today. He's a legend.

True story: I sing in the bass section of the local choral society. Twice now, our conductor/director has moved the bass section to be closer to the sopranos for certain performances. In these instances, I had some women directly in front of me. I sang a low note, nothing remarkable because I'm really a baritone (the real basses are further back in this arrangement). The women visibly shuddered, and one of them said 'That's it, I'm coming back as a bass!' LOL!!

Based on how you felt, can you imagine what it has been like for those of us that were teens during Beatlemania. It is more sad to know that Ringo and Paul are both in their 80's and probably will not be around a whole lot longer, along with the rest of us that were here when they was Fab. No one will ever know what John was thinking as he composed it, but Paul and Ringo were able to provide one last bit of magic for their fans and created this great tribute to a wonderful time for music and culture. In spite of the turmoil that was a large part of the 1960's they helped make it feel like there was hope for something better as opposed to todays feeling of despair and helplessness.
